KUALA TERENGGANU: Disciplinary action has been taken against six Terengganu students, including one who is pursuing medicine in Egypt, for involvement in street demonstrations against the government.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the state government had withdrawn their study loans over their involvement last July, in an illegal rally linked to the Universities and University Colleges Act.

“We help them to further their studies, not to be involved in demonstrations or something unnecessary.

“We have asked them to answer show-cause letters and they have made an appeal.

“The state government takes a serious view of student involvement in unhealthy activities, including demons-trations, which would affect  the  nation’s economic growth and undermine the government,” he said. — Bernama
