BELAGA: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Sarawak (PBB) members in Belaga supports any candidate from other Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties in the coming 13th general election.

PBB state secretary-general Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said the 2,000 over members in Belaga had assured him of their support to ensure BN win with a big majority in the parliamentary election.

“They will work closely with other BN component parties for the constituency (Ulu Rajang) where PRS (Parti Rakyat Sarawak) is representing them for the parliamentary election.

“The only concern they have is that being PBB members, they want to be part of the working committee and to be appreciated,” he told thesundaypost after attending the leaders-meet-the-people session at Uma Bawang Sg Koyan in Belaga yesterday.

Dr Rundi, who is Assistant Minister of Public Health and Utilities (Electricity & Telecommunications), was having a dialogue session with PBB members in Belaga during the event, where various issues were brought up.

Earlier PBB Belaga branch chairman Michael Mujah Lihan who is also PBB executive council member brought up several resolutions for PBB’s consideration – one being to have loyal members in Belaga considered for senatorship.

“We are always supporting BN and putting personal interest aside for the unity, strength and sustainability of development policies that benefit the people,” he said.

Other resolutions were to improve basic facilities such as to have fixed telephone line, electricity supply especially for new longhouses and electrical wiring – last maintained 12 years ago.

They also want Giat Mara set up in Sg Asap to give greater exposure and opportunities for the young generation, and empower the economy of the local community, especially through Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and The Bumiputera Trust Fund (Tegas).

Dr Rundi who is also Assistant Minister of Youth Development (Rural) and Kemena assemblyman received 103 applications to be PBB members. They were handed over by Michael Mujah, witnessed by PBB executive secretary Awang Bujang Awang Antek.

In addition, PBB Belaga branch will recruit another 500 members to strengthen the BN election machinery in the constituency.
