PM arrives in Nanning

NANNING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who arrived early Sunday for a one-day working visit, will join Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at a ground-breaking ceremony of the Malaysia-China Qinzhou Industrial Park, about 150km from here.

Najib and wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, arrived at Nanning Airport at 1am in a special aircraft.

He was received upon arrival by his Special Envoy to China, Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting, Malaysian Ambassador to China Datuk Iskandar Sarudin and several officials.

The Qinzhou Industrial Park (QIP) is a joint-venture between a consortium of Malaysian companies and a Chinese firm to develop an area of 55sq km, located along the coast in the south of Guangxi province, facing Beibu Gulf and bordering Vietnam on the southwest.

While here, Najib will receive a courtesy call by Party Secretary of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guo Shengkun, and Governor Ma Biao.

Najib will also hold discussions with Jiabao and witness the signing of agreement of joint-venture for the QIP project before proceeding for the official launch ceremony at a site located about 150km from here.

The prime minister and wife are scheduled to return home at 7.30pm. — BERNAMA
