The duo were charged with committing armed robbery using a machete and robbed Shamsudin bin Nurdin, 35 of his MyKad, driving licence, four ATM cards, RM100 cash, a cheque book, a gold ring and a cellular phone all worth about RM1,000. They committed the robbery behind Wilson Workshop about 7.30pm on January 14.

According to the facts of the case, the victim met the second accused (Herman) at a restaurant at Bandar Sabindo about 11am on January 14. Both men were friends and had not met each other for about ten years.

Herman informed the victim that he supplies cellular phones and laptops from Labuan and the victim was interested and they made an appointment to meet again.

On the same day at about 7.30pm, the victim contacted the accused to discuss about a laptop purchase and both agreed to meet in front of Wilson Workshop at Mile 4 Apas Road.

When the victim reached the place, the accused entered the car and asked him to park behind the workshop. When they reached there the accused came out of the car and suddenly three unidentified men entered and one of them placed a machete at his neck while two others robbed him.

The robbers left the victim when a car entered the street and the victim drove to the police station to make a police report.

Police detained Azman and seized a machete about 12.10am on January 16 at an unnumbered house at Kampung Kurnia Jaya.

At 12.45am, Azman led the police to where Herman stayed in the same village. On January 20 about 3.30pm, the first accused was positively identified by the victim during an identification parade at the Tawau police station.
