BANGKOK: Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Yutthasak Sasiprapha overseeing security affairs said yesterday that more bombings can be expected in the deep South based on intelligence reports, China’s Xinhua news agency reported.

According to Gen. Yuthasak, security has already been beefed up in Songkhla’s Hat Yai district where a car bomb exploded at a hotel and other areas prone to attacks, local media said.

On Saturday, a series of bomb attacks rocked two southern provinces of Songkhla and Yala, killing 14 altogether and injuring over 500.

Among those three people killed in Hat Yai’s incident was a Malaysian man identified as Low Tsian Hock. — Bernama
