HAT YAI: All Malaysian vehicles trapped in the bombing incident at a hotel here last Saturday, will be handed over to the owners and be brought back to Malaysia soon after the Thai police have completed their investigations.
Meanwhile, all damaged vehicles will be compensated accordingly by the Thai government.
Putera 1Malaysia Club president, Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, who is on a mission to help Malaysians who became victims of the bombings, said the Thai authorities had given close cooperation to ease the difficulties faced by the Malaysians who were involved in the incident.
He said there were at least 10 vehicles from Malaysia which were trapped in an underground car park at the hotel.
“The local government and their central government have promised to remove all cars and they are willing to pay compensation for losses suffered following the tragedy. But all vehicles (from Malaysia) coming to Thailand will surely be covered by insurance and I believe they can be claimed,” he told Malaysian journalists during a visit to the bombing site yesterday.
Besides the cars, Abdul Azeez said the Consulate General in Songkla, Mohd Aini Atan would also help to arrange and collect all belongings owned by Malaysians involved such as travel documents, luggage and others to be brought back to Malaysia.
Two Malaysians were killed in the incident about 1 pm, namely Tan Peng Chan, 39, from Kuala Kedah and Low Thian Hock, 46, from Kulim, Kedah.
Ten Malaysians had been treated in three local hospitals but currently, only five are still receiving treatment at two hospitals. — Bernama
