HAT YAI: A Malaysian and his Thai wife, injured and caught in the melee caused by a bomb attack at a hotel here last Saturday, are grateful to the Malaysian Government for its assistance in their hour of need.

Choo Kok Boon, 46, and Somkhid Luagnut, 37, are overwhelmed by the assistance which enabled the couple to be brought safely back to Malaysia about noon.

Earlier, they were warded at the Rajyindee Hospital here where they underwent treatment for head and body injuries sustained in the bomb attack.

Thanks to a Kelab Putera 1Malaysia ambulance, they were taken to the Hospital Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur where they are undergoing observation.

“I am very grateful and appreciative of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s efforts to help us in our time of difficulties…we were injured and lost our personal identification documents. I am happy to be back in Malaysia and glad to see our relatives,” he told reporters.

Meanwhile, club chairman Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, who headed the mission to bring back Malaysians from Hat Yai, said four more victims comprising two couples, were still being treated at Songkla Nagarind Hospital. — Bernama
