SERI ISKANDAR: Six dance groups which performed at the ‘Festival of Colours of the World 2012’ (Fesco) here, Saturday night, will perform at the ‘Root of Heritage’ concert at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas on April 10.
Thirty-three groups took part in the heats on Saturday and eight were picked to perform at Dewan Canselor, Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) Saturday night.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambri Abdul Kadir said the festival was a gathering of students from local institutions of higher learning to display their talents.

“The festival, organised by UTP, can help promote Perak and boost unity,” he said in his speech read by State Higher Education, ICT, Human Resources, Science & Technology Committee chairman Datuk Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid.
Meanwhile, UTP vice-chancellor Datuk Dr Zainal Kassim said the festival was part of a five-day programme which started Friday.
“The ‘Root of Heritage’ concert is in support of the UTP Foundation to encourage the development of UTP,” he said in a speech text read by Student Affairs and UTP Alumni deputy vice-chancellor Mohamed Noor Rosli Baharom. — Bernama
