KUALA LUMPUR: The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has introduced a Permanent Disability Evaluation Guideline to medical practitioners and the EPF Medical Board with regard to Disability Withdrawals.

EPF deputy chief executive officer (Operations) Datuk Ibrahim Taib said the guideline was part of a continuous process to improve EPF’s services.

“The guideline is hoped to assist in evaluating disabilities more accurately, consistently and objectively.

“It will also provide a clear standard for the EPF Medical Board and medical practitioners to gauge the health of EPF members and determine their eligibility for a Disability Withdrawal,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

According to Ibrahim, the Disability Withdrawal which was introduced in 1952 allowed members to take out all of their EPF savings when declared as disabled.

“This encompasses physical or mental disability while working or life support after receiving maximum medical treatment,” he added. — Bernama
