KOTA MARUDU: The Kota Marudu Basional Nasional’s machinery is all set to face the general election any time, said its chairman, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Maximus Ongkili.

Maximus, who chaired a meeting with the Barisan Nasional division leaders yesterday, said the meeting discussed each component party’s preparedness in facing the election, including the setting up of polling centre committees and a main BN operations room.

“As a standard measure, each component party is also setting up their respective operation centres and updating their member lists.

“Meanwhile, a series of workshops will also be organised for the village Development and Security Committee chairmen (JKKK) and village headmen for the whole of the Kota Marudu parliamentary constituency next week.

“Each of the 167 villages in the Tandek state seat and 176 villages in the Matunggong state seats will be represented by their village committee chairman and village headman,” he added.

Maximus, who is also Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, said that the training workshops would be used as an avenue to update and inform the JKKK chairmen and village headmen on their role and functions, as well as their duties as agents of transformation in keeping with the government’s aspiration for the nation.

“The training workshop will also be an avenue to equip these leaders to respond and answer to various propaganda and accusations hurled against Barisan Nasional by irresponsible opposition members who have been prowling around our villages.

“A Barisan Nasional division workshop will also be held in May to focus on election rules and conduct of election. The series of programmes to gear up and heighten the mood for the election will include youth programmes in the coming months,” he added.

Maximus also reminded that although Kota Marudu is a stronghold of Barisan Nasional, leaders and members are urged to work hard and not be complacent.

“We must work hard for the future of the people, for only Barisan Nasional can fully deliver the transformation programmes planned by the government for the people,” he said.
