Five suspects involved in 10 Nusajaya robberies nabbed

JOHOR BAHARU: Police believed they have solved 10 robbery cases around Nusajaya following the arrest of five men at a budget hotel in Tampoi near here two days ago.

Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said all the suspects, aged between 19 and 32 were held at about 12.30pm.

“Police found various items including two long machetes, a car, 13 mobile phones of various brands, watches, two passports and tools used for breaking into houses during the raid,” he told reporters at the Johor police headquarters here yesterday.

Mohd Mokhtar said urine tests also found all of them positive from drugs while two of them are wanted by police for receiving stolen goods and drug offences.

In another case, police detained five men aged between 17 and 36, believed to be involved in several robberies in north Johor Baru area.

“They were detained at 4.15am in several raids around Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Skudai. Police seized a machete, various house break in tools, masks, hand gloves, a car which was reported stolen in Seremban, 25 mobile phones, a number of electrical appliances, laptops and three television sets,” he said.

He said three of them had previous criminal records for car theft in south Johor Baharu while two more were wanted in connection with drug cases in south Johor Baharu and Nusajaya. — Bernama
