RANAU: MASWings, through its Wings of Love program, allocated RM 20,000 to SMK Kemburongoh, recently.

MASWings chief executive officer Datuk Captain Nawawi Awang selected SMK Kemburongoh as the first school in Sabah to be adopted under the Wings of Love program.

The allocation is for enhancing the performance of the school in education.

He said the program is part of their community program aimed to help SMK Kemburongoh create a conducive environment for students and ensured that they could be formed to be good leaders in the future.

Meanwhile, Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun who officiated at the event welcomed the effort and expressed gratitude to MASWings for selecting SMK Kemburongoh as their first adopted school.

“I was informed that SMK Kemburongoh is the first school selected in the state as it meets MASWings’ corporate theme and based on the school’s location which is quite far from the city.”

Masidi, who is also Karanaan assemblyman said the selection of the school was right because of its good performance in the Peniailan Menengah Rendah (PMR) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations.

“It is hoped that through this program the performance of the school can be increased in terms of education,” he said.

“Most of the villagers in Kemburongoh have succeeded in life where some of them had become engineers, doctors and teachers,” he said.

Masidi said the program was like a gift to parents who had work hard in providing education to their children.

Earlier, Education Department director Datuk Dr Muhiddin Yussin lauded the move by MASWings as it would be focussing on three aspects, namely community, education and environment.

Among the initiatives organized by MASWings were motivational talk, leadership course, course to increase English proficiency, answering questions and study techniques, contribution of revision books and a career talk in the aviation industry.

MASWings is also offering free airline tickets to students who obtain excellent results during the program to increase the competitiveness among them.

Apart from the students, opportunities are also given to teachers who are contributing in academic and curriculum performances of the students in the school.

During the event, MASWings also allocated RM 2000 for the choir group in the school.

Around 400 people including parents, teachers, students and education department officers were present at the event.
