KUALA LUMPUR: Former Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat hopes that the hard work put in by the Ad-hoc Committee assigned to investigate the alleged wrongdoings or 20 anomalies at the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) identified by the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Report would not go to waste.
PwC’s confidential findings were handed over to investigators and prosecutors as scheduled in August 2009, he said in a statement following the launch of a book, “PKFZ: A Nation’s Trust Betrayed” by former Port Klang Authority Chairman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng yesterday.
“Twenty-eight million Malaysians might not have privileged access to such findings as the investigation is purportedly still in progress, but it is believed that many of them are still yearning for an answer that they are entitled to. After all, we are all well aware that we have the right to the truth,” said Ong.
It was estimated in 2009 that the total cost, including cost overruns, interest and debt repayments, to build PKFZ into a regional industrial park could reach RM12.5 billion. — Bernama
