Four longhouses receive MRP grants worth RM45,000

BALINGIAN: Four Iban longhouses here on Monday benefited from minor rural project (MRP) grants totalling RM45,000 disbursed through the Balingian state assemblyman’s fund under Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

The biggest recipient was Rumah Ding Erak that received RM15,000 while the other three longhouses — Rumah Tinggom Nyayang, Rumah Nuwie Seleyu and Rumah Meringai Tuah — received RM10,000 each.

On hand to present the grants on behalf of the chief Mminister was his newly appointed political secretary-councillor Kenil Jaraiie who was guest-of-honour at the presentation ceremony held at Balingian sub-district office here.

Also present were SAO Crossley Hillary Sering of Balingian sub-district office, Jasa Balingian field officer Junaidi Nor, PBB Balingian vice-chairman councillor Abdul Yakub Arbi and Youth chief Ryandi Teckim, Penghulu Shahdan Sahari, SPDP Balingian treasurer Ehsan Majid and committee member Rosli Morshidi as well as other longhouse chiefs.

In his speech, Kenil called on all recipients to use the money wisely to benefit all members of their longhouse.

He went on to tell his audience to stay united behind the Barisan Nasional government under the leadership of Mukah MP Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Leo Toyad, Taib and Prime Minister Datuk Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak to enjoy continuous development and prosperity.
