SARIKEI: The living standard of Malaysians has been on the increase in recent years because the Barisan Nasional (BN) government had implemented a lot of programmes to transform the socio-economic outlook of the nation

To ensure these good times continue to prevail, Sarikei MP Ding Kuong Hiing said the people, especially those in the rural areas, must continue to support the BN in the coming 13th general election.

“By supporting the BN, the people can expect continuity in terms of infrastructure, facilities, and amenities. The people can also expect the implementation of more socio-economic programmes which could help increase their income,” Ding said at Rumah Tunjang in Baron, about 20km from here, yesterday.

He advised the people to turn a blind eye on the opposition as they were only good at fault finding and making empty promises.

“Members of opposition parties are good at looking for damages or defects in public facilities and infrastructure. They only know how to detect defects with their `magic fingers’, but they have no idea how to fix them.”

At the gathering, Ding handed over a RM10,700 grant to Tuai Rumah Tunjang Rentap. The contribution was to part finance the connection of electricity supply to their longhouse. Ding hoped that the project would be completed before the Gawai celebration.

In his speech, Tunjang said his people would fully support BN candidates in the coming election.

“The BN government has given us electricity, water, tar-sealed roads, and even loans to construct our new longhouse. We are also enjoying efficient communication network coverage and other amenities which I don’t have to mention one by one.”
