Farmers, businessmen want Salang to defend seat

SARIKEI: Chinese farmers and businessmen in Sg Rusa want Julau MP Datuk Joseph Salang to defend his seat in the 13th general election.

After meeting the 3-term parliamentarian who visited two re-settlement areas in Sg Rusa recently, they expressed hope that the Barisan Nasional would endorse his candidacy in Julau.

One of them, Kiu Hua Thong, described Salang as affable and approachable.

“He is always on the ground,” Kiu added.

Salang, who is the Deputy Information, Communication and Culture Minister, later said he would defend his seat if he had the blessings of Party Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing and other top BN leaders.

“If I am not fielded, I hope you’ll support whoever is the BN’s candidate,” he told the people there.
