SIBU: Lions Club of Sibu Berjaya is focusing on improving the well-being of rural folk in its planned activities for this year.
Past president Walter Ting said a lot more needed to be done to create a better society.
“Since I joined the Lions Club about 10 years ago, I have seen and learned a lot about the needs of this society.
“I have also learned that there is a lot more that can be done to improve especially the rural areas,” he pointed out.
Ting was speaking to reporters when met during a dinner at Golden Happiness Restaurant recently.
Asked to elaborate, he said rural areas were still lacking in basic infrastructure.
“In order to stay relevant with a common objective to effectively assist the rural poor, it’s imperative that our club members stay united and work as a team,” he said.
Stephen Tiew is the president of the club.
