PUTRAJAYA: Vandals damaged about 80 per cent of fire hydrants installed in Putrajaya last year.
Repair works to the hydrants were estimated at RM49,000, said Putrajaya Fire and Rescue Department director Md Hilman Abd Rashid.
To counter such acts of vandalism, he urged Putrajaya residents to participate in the ‘Friends of Fire Hydrant Programme’, especially those who stayed near fire hydrants.
He was speaking to reporters when met at the launch of a programme, ‘Bomba Bersama Masyarakat’ here yesterday. — Bernama
