KUALA LUMPUR: Come Sunday, (Eastern hemisphere time), the people of Sabah and Sarawak will witness the partial annular eclipse or eclipse of the sun ring.
According to the Space Science Education portal, with the magnitude of 0.9439, Brunei and parts of Indonesia, would also experience the beauty of the annular eclipse.
The solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, and protecting, the whole or part of the Sun’s image from observers. The Annulus eclipse occurs when the apparent diameter of the Moon is smaller than the sun disk, causing the Sun to appear as an annular (ring), and blocking most of the sunlight.
The portal noted that the annular phase would be visible from the coast of China, northern Taiwan, southern Japan and western United States and Canada.
The maximum eclipse would occur in the North Pacific, south of the Aleutian Islands for five minutes and 46.3 seconds, and would expire in the western United States.
