Two 24-hour convenience stores robbed

KOTA KINABALU: Two 24-hour convenience stores were robbed by armed robbers here yesterday.

In the first case, two men, one armed with a knife, entered the convenience store at Country Heights, Penampang around 3.30am.

It is said that the robbers emptied the cash register machine which contained RM1,300 and took 10 packets of cigarettes before they fled in a car.

The second robbery took place around 6am in Telipok when two men also armed with a knife, robbed the 24-hour convenience store of RM48 and three packets of cigarettes.

The robbers also fled in a car.

City police chief ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria, when contacted yesterday, said the cases were still under investigation.

He urged eyewitnesses to come forward to assist police in their investigation.
