BEIJING: China will build up a digital geographic framework by 2015, the China’s National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation (NASMG) said.

The administration said in a statement that it would set up a framework for digital cities comprising a universal global positioning system integrated service network, national primary scale topographic maps and national geographic information public service platform by 2015, in line with the implementation of the country’s 12th five-year plan.

The digitalisation of cities has become an important instrument for the government’s decision making, and also helped to improve citizens’ quality of life, the NASMG explained. –Bernama
