Sex stimulants seized from night market

KOTA KINABALU: About 56 sex pills of numerous brands were confiscated by enforcement agencies in three separate raids around the city centre.

Deputy city police chief Superintendent M. Chandra said the stimulants were confiscated by the Health Department during a joint operation with the police, dubbed ‘Ops Gerakan Tumpuan’ in Kampung Air here on Thursday.

“The pills were confiscated from two night market stalls, a medicine shop and inside a vehicle in Kampung Air.

“No arrests were however made during the whole operation,” he told reporters at a press conference at the city police headquarters in Karamunsing here yesterday.

Chandra said the items were seized by the Health Department and the case would be investigated under Section 12 of the Sales of Drugs Act 1952.

The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism has also seized numerous imitation brands such as Adidas, Levis and Nike amounting to RM1,530 in the same operation.

No arrest was made, said Chandra, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 5 (1) (b) of the Trade Descriptions Act 2011.

Meanwhile, Chandra said since the ‘Ops Gerak Tumpuan’ began on May 17, the police have detained 16 illegal immigrants and seven drug addicts and pushers.

“The state Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jheains) has also detained two couples for vice while City Hall has issued numerous compounds to shop owners for illegal structures on their premises and operating without a licence,” he said.

Chandra added that a 16-year-old girl was also detained for working underage at a reflexology and health centre.

He said such operation with other enforcement agencies would be carried out from time to time especially around the city centre.
