KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court here today allowed former women, family and community development minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil to amend her statement of claim against PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin and PKR strategy director, Mohd Rafizi Ramli.

Judge Vazeer Alam Mydin Meera made the decision without any objection from Zuraida and Mohd Rafizi. Shahrizat was represented by counsel Datuk Ahmad Redza Abdullah, while counsel Razlan Hadri and Ranjit Singh appeared for Zuraida and Mohd Rafizi respectively.

On Jan 19, Shahrizat filed a libel suit against Zuraida and Mohd Rafizi over their statements which allegedly slandered her regarding the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) project.

Shahrizat is claiming RM50 million in general damages and another RM50 million for aggravated and exemplary damages against the two defendants.

She also applied for an injunction to stop the defendants from issuing the same statements about her regarding National Feedlot Corporation Sdn Bhd or affiliated companies, either verbally or in print.

The Wanita Umno chief claimed both defendants had systematically launched a campaign to attack, tarnish and defame the plaintiff’s good name by spreading libellous allegations. The hearing of the case will be on Aug 6 and 10. — BERNAMA
