Mass arrest of Euro 2012 football gamblers

BANGKOK: Thai police have arrested 125 people for football gambling during the first two days of the Euro 2012 tournament, Thai News Agency reported.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Saroj Promcharoen, deputy Bangkok police chief, said of the total suspects, six were bookmakers while the rest were punters.

Police also seized 26,000 baht (RM2,604) in cash and betting slips worth more than 2.5 million baht (RM250,522).

Police investigators are also looking into the acid spraying attacks on women in Bangkok.

The latest incident occurred last Monday in Phaholyothin and Suthisan areas.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Kamronvit Thoopkrachang, acting Bangkok police commander, said he believed the assailant would soon be identified to be arrested. — BERNAMA
