Four men caught packaging drugs in plantation

LAHAD DATU: Four men, including two foreigners, were arrested by police while packaging drugs in a hut at a plantation here on Wednesday morning.

They were among 14 men and two women detained by the narcotic police in the district in separate operations.

District acting police chief Assistant Superintendent Bong Khuet Khiun yesterday said the police team seized 46.02 grammes of drugs which were placed inside a plastic box at the plantation during the 12.05am operation. Further inspection found 29 small packets of drugs inside three plastic bags.

“All the suspects aged between 20 and 30 were remanded for further investigation under Section 39A (2) of the Dangerous Drug Act,” he said.

In a separate operation, the police detained a foreigner and seized 0.21 gramme of drug believed to be syabu at an unnumbered house at Kampung Bangingod, Felda, about 1.30am on Wednesday.

He said the suspect tried to flee and threw away a plastic bag which contained two plastic packets of drug placed in a cigarette box.

“The suspect and the seized items were taken to the district police station for further action and the case would also be investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drug Act. A urine test confirmed the suspect had abused drug,” he said.

In another operation, eight foreigners aged between 15 and 45 were detained after their urine tested positive for drug abuse. All of them would be investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drug Act.

A man and two women were also arrested by the team during the operation when they failed to show valid travel document. They were referred to the Immigration Department for further action.
