RM6 million allocated for various national-level co-curricular activities this year

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Education Ministry has allocated a total of RM6 million to fund various national-level co-curricular activities for schools nationwide throughout the year.

Its co-curriculum and arts division director, Muhamat Roli Hassan said through the allocation, 197 programmes had been planned and almost half of them had already been completed.

“We believe the programmes drawn up could provide various knowledge and experiences for the students’ mental, interest, talent and physical development as well as shape positive aesthetic and social values,” he told reporters after officiating the National Co-curricular Gala at the Penang Co-curricular Centre here yesterday.

The five-day programme, which began last Saturday, was participated by more than 300 students nationwide.

However, Muhamat said, the allocation did not include the funds for cocurricular activities at the school, district and state levels. — Bernama
