KUCHING: The Lifetime Achievement Award for Iban, Bidayuh and Orang Ulu categories will be the highlight of the Dayak Artistes and Musicians Association (Dama) Anugerah Muzik Dayak (AMD) 2012.
They are part of 20 awards to be presented on Oct 27 at Stadium Perpaduan Kuching.
Other awards include Best Male (Open Category), Best Female (Open Category), Best Dayak Song (Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu), Best New Dayak Artiste (Open Category), Best Group/Duo Vocal Performance in Group (Open Category), Album of the Year (Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu), Best Album Cover (Open Category), Best Video (Open Category), Best Lyrics (Iban songs only) and Best Music Arrangement (Open Category).
Three new awards would be confirmed and announced later, saidDama chairman Snowdan Lawan.
The Balai Ringin assemblyman said the categories for the biennial awards were decided during Dama’s fifth committee meeting recently.
“We kindly request all singers, composers, lyricists and production houses to submit their nominations before the end of August,” said Snowdan.
Albums that can be nominated are those produced between Dec 1, 2010 and Aug 31, 2012.
Song nomination will open on Sunday (July 1) and the closing date is Aug 31.
Nomination forms are available from the Dama office at Sublot No. 7, Tabuan Stutong Commercial Centre, Kuching between 8am and 5pm on weekdays and from 8am to 12pm on Saturdays.
Dama will hold roadshows in Sibu (July 28), Bintulu (Aug 25), Miri (Sept 22) and Kuching (Oct 6) to promote AMD 2012 as well as hold membership drives.
AMD 2012 tickets priced at RM30 and RM50 will be on sale during the roadshows.
Dama in collaboration with official media The Borneo Post, Utusan Borneo and TV3 held the inaugural AMD in 2010.
