KAPIT: Health Department staff here have been asked to learn to accept criticism.

Kapit Hospital director Dr Ngian Hie Ung said criticism is not a bad thing because it helps point out weaknesses and mistakes.

“When someone points out our mistakes, it is good for us to correct the wrong in order to improve.

“The keyword in the medical and healthcare profession is we must have passion for the patients and the community and we must be humble enough to accept criticism and undo the bad things to avoid recurrence,” she said during the hospital’s Nurses Day celebration on Wednesday evening.

She pointed out that all staff in the health services industry, regardless of position, must be passionate about their work.

“Grade yourself with a chart 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. This is important to evaluate the work score in our profession,” she said.

The programme included oath-taking, cake-cutting ceremony, cultural presentation, modern and folk dances, karaoke, lucky draws and an elegant nurse pageant.
