Freedy Lee, brother of Kuan Yew, dies

SINGAPORE: Freddy Lee Thiam Yew, a younger brother of former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, has died, local television Channel NewsAsia reported.

He was 85.

Channel NewsAsia quoted the family as saying that Thiam Yew had been suffering from cancer and died at home Thursday evening.

Thiam Yew, former chairman of stockbroking firm J Ballas and Company and a former police officer, is the second youngest brother of Kuan Yew.

Kuan Yew has three brothers and one sister.

Dennis Lee Kim Yew, a businessman, died in 2003 from cancer of the kidney at the age of 77. Youngest brother Lee Suan Yew is a medical practitioner. — Bernama
