KUCHING: A young couple was arrested in a scuffle with General Operations Force (GOF) guards while trying to force their way into the compound of the Head of State’s official residence in Telaga Air yesterday.
The incident occurred around 12.30am when the 20-year-old youth from Kampung Sinjan and 22-year-old woman from Kampung Tanjung were stopped when they arrived at the main gate in a white Perodua Kenari.
The duo insisted they be allowed into the compound “to meet with the Head of State” and in trying to force their way past, shoved GOF personnel stationed at the guard house.
Both were arrested by the guards who found a switchblade in the pants of the youth in a body search.
The duo, who tested negative for drugs but were believed to be under the influence of alcohol, were detained for investigation.
A source disclosed that the Head of State was at his residence at the time, and was told of the incident.
