KUCHING: Salam Musik, a multi-talented music ensemble from Kuala Lumpur, are excited about finally performing in Sarawak through a four night showcase at Victoria Arms, Merdeka Palace here.

The band leader Ashraaf Ahmad Azlan, also known as Salam, said they previously played and toured around the Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore but have yet to do so in Sarawak.

He pointed out music lovers will enjoy their performance because their music is an ecletic mix of different styles.

“Our latest album released in August 2011 promotes world peace and universal love. It is a mixture of different kinds of music and we don’t limit ourselves to do certain kinds of music,” he said, adding a new album is coming up and three singles have been released.

The band is well known for their hit song ‘Cerita Kedai Kopi’, which won the AIM Award 2010 for Best Hip Hop Song.

They were involved in big events including Hitz.FM Birthday Invasion in Stadium Putra, ‘Rock the World Adrenerline’ in Stadium Merdeka and a gig at Hard Rock Penang.

All their singles have made it to the charts and their music video ‘Alamak’ featuring Altimet has been broadcasted throughout Malaysia.

Their performance at Victoria Arms began last night (July 9) and ends this Thursday.

Apart from Salam, the other members are Talal Zahnan — vocal, Noraniza Mohd Bahra — vocal, Ahmadbulya Abdillah Jaafar — drum/jambre, Rajindra Bahadur Bahador — guitar, Mohd Ammar Mohd Habir — keyboard/guitar, Muhd Iras Naim — trumpet/chenai/bamboo flute and Alvin Arputharaj Arthimoolan — bass.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s food and beverages executive assistant manager Andrew Law said patrons to the Victoria Arms will enjoy the kind of music coming from Salam Music.

“Their diversity of music will make people feel happy and relaxed,” he said.
