Richard Lim stormed into the men’s 46kg final in boxing to be held at SMK Bukit Rangan Hall after defeating Mohamad Firdaus Mohamad of Johor 28-14 in the last four yesterday.

In today’s final, he will meet Mohd Hafizuddin Hakim of Terengganu after the latter disposed of Nik Mohd Shahrul Ikram of Pahang in the other semi-final.

“I am very happy with my performance because this is the second time I made to the final,” said Richard who won silver Melaka Sukma.

Also in action today are Nazreen Sidi who will fight Ahmad Abhar Afifi Nassaruddin of Perak in the men’s 60kg semi-finals and Mohd Fuat Sani who will face Kobendaran Chandrasegaran of Pulau Pinang in the men’s 65kg semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Sarawak women’s hockey team suffered their third consecutive loss after falling 0-4 to Johor.

In archery, Lau Jun Sien won a bronze in the women’s compound 70m after scoring 320 points while Lau Ngie Cheon collected 319 points to win the bronze in the men’s compound 90m.

Men’s volleyball defending champions Sarawak were crashed out in the quarterfinals yesterday after losing 2-3 to Selangor while their women counterparts advanced into the semi-finals against Pahang after thumping Kuala Lumpur 3-0 in the last eight.

In cycling, Sarawak picked up a bronze in the women’s team 110km road race while the pair of Mohd Nasruddin Md Dali-Muaz Ahmad won the men’s doubles petanque silver and Mohd Zarafi Murais finished third in the men’s singles.
