KAPIT: Seven employees of Kapit District Council (KDC) received their outstanding service awards for their exemplary services for the year 2011 at a gathering to mark the end of the council’s Second Quarter Meeting at Meligai Hotel on Friday.
The gathering was organised by the council’s Sports and Recreation Club (Kadico).
Leading the list of the recipients were former council secretary Sait Enggang, who is now the secretary of Simunjan District Council, Assistant Environmental Health Officer Abdul Aziz Zainal Abidin, Enforcement Section unit head Kayan Nyelang and also Dennis Lamau Ata, Balla Tukau, Jackson Wee Poh Kwang and Stanley Bit Lek from the council’s branch office in Belaga.
Assistant Minister for Local Government, Datuk John Sikie Tayai, officiated at the function.
He observed the gathering could help to enhance rapport between staff, councillors and the ministry, and hoped the commendable activity would continue in the future.
He added that the presentation of the outstanding service awards and the presentation of the cash donations to the deserving staff members had made the gathering more meaningful.
Later at the function, he announced a grant of RM12,000 to Kadico to organise activities for the benefit of the members and the council and presented the outstanding service awards to the recipients.
The council also presented cash donation solicited from the staff to Malong Jilan whose mother passed away earlier this month; to Umban Anggau whose longhouse was razed to the ground by fire in May; Ipa Agong (his wife passed away recently) and the family of Safri Ling Abdullah who was a council staff in Belaga district who passed away early this month.
Among those present at the function were the permanent secretary to LGCD Dr Penguang Manggil who presented the cash donations to the recipients, deputy walikota Councillor Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Council’s secretary Henry Jalin Watt, sectional heads of the council, councilors and some 80 staff members.
