MIRI: A Saturday morning trip to catch fish and prawns at a lake in Senadin was disturbing for a family when they found floating in it the body of a teenage boy clad only in underwear.
The father of the family was using a seine (fishing net) to comb the area for fish and prawns when he spotted the body at about 9am yesterday.
They immediately informed the authority and a team of firemen from Lopeng arrived at the scene to retrieve the body from the lake.
Police chief, ACP Mun Kock Keong, when contacted yesterday, said they had yet to identify the body, and would not say whether ‘John Doe’ was a student.
The rescue team found a school bag, school uniform and T-shirt bearing the name ‘SMK Pujut Miri’ nearby.
The body was sent to Miri Hospital for post-mortem.
