SIBU: All the government’s efforts to help the people improve their lives would be meaningless if they support the opposition.
It is, therefore, very important that they, especially those in the rural areas, cooperate fully with the government departments and agencies to ensure that they are not left out from the mainstream of development under the Barisan Nasional’s 1Malaysia Concept, said Kanowit MP Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.
“All development projects are from government departments and agencies and not the opposition.
“People must continue to support the Barisan Nasional to ensure continual development,” he said when he officiated at 1Malaysia Community (K1M) ‘Sepakat Bestari’ held at Kanowit riverfront in Kanowit recently.
It was jointly organised by Kanowit Information Department, Kanowit District Police and Special Affairs Department.
Aaron said the present government was very concerned with the people’s welfare as could be seen from the distribution of 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) and other assistance.
On the programme, he said it was a platform for the local community to interact with their elected representatives to share information and voice their problems apart from strengthening ties.
In Kanowit, he said, three new K1M had been established – in Pedai, Nanga Dap and Lukut/Penyulau Road.
Also present were acting Kanowit district officer Ibrahim Kipli, Sibu/Mukah Division information officer Wasrin Jakaria and Kanowit Information Department head Wan Mohd Zuki Wan Ismail.
Among the activities held during the one-day programme were K1M aerobic exercise which involved about 500 participants, a colouring contest, health screening, cultural performances, a karaoke contest and an exhibition by the Army and the Police.
