Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is an integral component of the allied health service industry and the diploma equips students with the knowledge and skills to use sophisticated laboratory instruments and perform a wide range of laboratory tests effectively.

With the advancement of science and technology, most of the tests or screening procedures are now automated.

However, there are still some procedures that are based on conventional methods, especially in the field of microbiology and parasitology.

MLT technologist plays a vital support role to doctors and nurses in choosing the correct lab tests and ensures proper collection methods.

There are a wide range of career paths for MLT graduates, primarily in hospitals and medical centres.

There are also career opportunities in diagnostic laboratories, educational institutions, and biological and organic products manufacturers as well as with pharmaceutical and medical device suppliers.
