Eight teams in the fray for Sibu FA Cup

SIBU: The casting of lots for the coming Sibu FA Cup which was scheduled on September 1 at Stadium Tun Ahmad Zaidi has been brought forward to August 5.

Sibu Football Association (FA) secretary Abdul Hajis said the venue for the event would be decided at a later date.

“All the teams which qualified for the FA Cup are reminded to take note of the new and its venue which will be decided later,’ said Hajis on the event which will be participated by V8 FC, QLA5110, Aliana Enterprise, Singa Selalu, Rimba Hijau, Exodust, PBB and Sastera.

They were the top four winners from their group in the recent Sibu Naim League Cup and the champion for the Sibu FA Cup will get RM1,000 cash and first runners-up will get RM500.

Touching on the just concluded Sibu Naim League Cup, Hajis expressed satisfaction on the standard of the game in which V8 FC took the title after thrashing QLA5110 FC 6-1 in a thrilling final match. With the victory, V8 FC took home RM3,000, plus a trophy and medal. The event attracted many local teams that augured well for the development of the game.

“The players displayed good sense of maturity and tremendous improvement,” he said on the attitude and commitment shown by the players during the league which was worth mentioning.

Moreover, Hajis said all the teams managers also shown close cooperation throughout the championship.

Meanwhile, Hajis said 46 players are shortlisted to represent Sibu in the coming Sarawak Cup scheduled to be held in Miri later this year and the players are encouraged to turn up for training to held daily at the Prison Field from 3.30pm onwards.
