SANDAKAN: A woman from China was yesterday sentenced to eight days’ jail and RM2,000 fine, in default, two months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here for soliciting for the purpose of prostitution.
Diao Haiyan, 34, pleaded guilty before magistrate Mohd Zairi Zainal Abidin to a charge under Section 372 B of the Penal Code.
She committed the offence in a hotel room at Mile 7 about 7pm on July 18 this year.
Diao was found with a local Chinese man during a police raid.
The man had admitted to soliciting sex from the accused with the payment of RM250.
During the raid, police also found eight unused condoms, contraceptive pills and lubricating gel.
In the same court yesterday, Nani Bin Madjili, 28 was jailed for 18 months for pickpocketing.
He committed the offence on July 17 this year around 9am at Gentingmas Mall Hypermarket here.
