ENGKILILI: Member of parliament for Lubok Antu William Nyalau Badak claimed that opposition parties like Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) were only trying to influence the people by bringing up various issues to gain support.

Furthermore, opposition leaders only appear when election is near and would then disappear thereafter, he said.

“Do you want that kind of leaders to lead you into the future? Definitely not,” he said when launching the ‘meet the people’ session at Ru Diup Badeng Longhouse, Merio Tambak in Engkilili recently.

He said the people should give their full support to the Barisan Nasional (BN) government, as it is the only one that could help develop the country and bring betterment for all.

He explained that more development could be  achieved only when they work closely with the BN government.

Citing examples, he said six longhouses in Merio in the small district of Engkili would receive electricity supply from the RM1.1million rural electrification project.

The longhouses are Rh Baie Merio Rembai,  Rh Tupie Merio Baong, Rh Diup Merio Tambak, Rh Melina Merio Sedan, Rh Jawa Merio Sedan and Rh Buda Merio Nanga.

Also present at the meet-the-people session were Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr Richard Will  Uban as well as community leaders.
