MIRI: A storeroom of Sarawak United People’s party (SUPP) Piasau branch office at Pelita Commercial Centre was destroyed by fire more than a week ago.

Yesterday evening, its hall was broken into by burglars.

The intruders were believed to have entered the hall via its ceiling. The ripped off ceiling was first spotted by a female teacher supposed to teach a dance class at about 5.45pm.

She immediately informed SUPP staff who alerted the police.

No items were reported missing. Also seen arriving at the scene last night at about 7pm was Miri police chief, ACP Mun Kock Keong. Mun refused to comment on the incident.

Also seen at the scene yesterday was SUPP’s assistant secretary-general Karambir Singh Honey.

SUPP Piasau chairman Datuk Sebastian Ting was informed by SUPP Piasau staff on the break-in.

“We were shocked… and immediately went down to see the office… a police report has been lodged and investigation underway,” Ting said.

He refused to comment on whether foul play was involved.

Some clothes kept inside the hall for the dance students were strewn about.
