KUCHING: Cuepacs Sarawak welcomes the announcement of the half month salary bonus and the special payment of RM500 to be given to all the country’s civil servants and pensioners respectively.
Its secretary Ahmad Malie in his short messaging system to The Borneo Post said that they appreciated what was given and thanked the government under Prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for his caring
gesture and response to their needs.
“We urge the civil servants in Sarawak and the country to use the bonus wisely and not to overspend especially those celebrating the Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” he said.
“The civil servants in the country should continue giving their best to serve the government to ensure that they can make the government’s development programmes successful,” he added.
Ahmad also hoped that business operators would not hike the prices of goods and services following the bonus announcement.
According to Bernama news yesterday, the payment will be made on Aug 9 to a total of 1.27 million civil servants and 657,000 pensioners.
The prime minister said the bonus was given out based on the government’s financial position and ability.
He added that the bonus was also the government’s gesture of appreciation to the contribution of civil servants and government pensioners.
