Next year’s budget will be people-friendly — Awang Adek

BACHOK: The 2013 Budget to be tabled by Prime Minister  Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak next month,will be a people-friendly budget in facing an uncertain global economy.

Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin said this budget was basically aimed at caring for the people’s welfare, increasing productivity, attracting investors and strengthening the country’s economy.

“The Finance Ministry’s staff are slogging to get ready the budget as scheduled,” he said after handing over zakat (tithe) to recipients in the Jelawat state constituency at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Teratak Pulai, here, yesterday.

Almost 700 of the needy, comprising single mothers, orphans and senior citizens, each received RM100 in conjunction with the coming Aidilfitri celebration.

It was part of the RM500,000 in zakat contributed by 12 institutions, including Bank Islam, Bank Rakyat and Lembaga Tabung Haji to be distributed to the recipients in the Bachok parliamentary constituency. — Bernama
