TENOM: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has requested that the Tenom parliamentary seat be given back to the party.

The request was made by Tenom division chairman Datuk Radin Malleh at its 27th annual general meeting on August 18.

Radin who is also Melalap assemblyman, in his speech, requested the PBS leadership to communicate with the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership so that the Tenom parliamentary seat would be given back to the party.

According to the PBS vice president, Tenom constituency is a traditional stronghold of PBS and its influence there is still very strong.

“We still have very strong influence and support in the area and it is a sure win for BN if the seat is given back to PBS. It will not be merely a ‘winnable’ case,” the Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister stressed.

Radin was also of the opinion that PBS surely will be able to contribute more and help strengthen BN if given the right and suitable constituency and Tenom parliamentary seat is one of those seats.

He expressed hope that other BN component parties would not jump the gun and accused him of being selfish or throw other negative accusations; or even speculate that he is interested to contest the Tenom constituency.

He pointed out that he had contested and won the Tenom constituency.

According to Radin, he is not even lobbying to be re-nominated for the Melalap seat and added that if he is not re-nominated as candidate, he would not be disappointed and would not appeal for it.

“This is because in PBS we have quite a number of capable and qualified potential candidates,” he said.

The AGM attended by some 1,200 delegates and observers, was officiated by PBS president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
