Two break-ins in one day

BIG LOSS: Several pieces of Tru-Tech Power AMP kept inside the cabinet were found stolen following the break-in.

KUCHING: Police have received at least reports of two break-ins yesterday.

In the first case, a woman was left with wounds on her head after she was assaulted by two intruders who broke into her house in Kota Sentosa early Saturday morning.

In the around 2am incident, the 49-year-old victim was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) by her son who received a distress call from his mother.

The victim was alone and sleeping when the two thieves broke into her house. She was awakened by a noise but before she realised what was happening, the duo hit her head with what could be a stick.

Police carried out investigation after being informed of the incident. The victim lodged a police report after her discharge from SGH.

Meanwhile, a car accessories shop owner lost RM40,000 to RM50,000 worth of audio equipment in a break-in believed to have happened at midnight on Saturday.

The crime was discovered by the owner’s uncle around 9am the next day upon his returning home after breakfast.

The uncle lives on the upper floor of the shop, a stone away from a police station.

The owner lodged a police report over the incident.

In an unrelated incident at a church in Jalan Song here, a woman lost her purse placed inside her handbag which she left in a classroom used to conduct Sunday school. Gone were RM300 cash, credit card, ATM card, personal documents and other personal belongings.
