HEART-RENDING: Family members of Nathaneil mourn his death.

SIBU: Utusan Borneo’s sports editor Nathaneil Philip, 36, died in his sleep following a heart attack in the wee hours in Kuching yesterday.

Before going to sleep at about 2am, Nathaneil, who has a degree in Human Resources from Unimas, was watching football matches on TV.

But as he lay down on his bed, he experienced breathing difficulties, thus prompting his wife Cathrine Ginau to call for an ambulance.

He leaves behind his 36-year-old wife, who is a teacher, and their two sons Nicholas Lium, 11, and Nickodemus Sauh, 5.

His father Philip Lium said Nathaneil was the second eldest among five siblings and that “he was a good son”.

His remains were transported from Kuching at about 5am yesterday to Kampung Bahagia Jaya, Sibu, for a ritual.

He will be buried at the Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) cemetery in Teku Road on Tuesday at 8am. One of his colleagues, Freddy Bohari, described the Kanowit-born Nathaneil as a responsible and punctual sports editor.
