CYBERJAYA: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) president Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said yesterday the party was on the right track within the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Kurup, who is Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, condemned as “wrong” the tactic of the opposition pact to continue to entice BN leaders, particularly in Sabah, to defect and
contest in the next general election.

“This is wrong. These (opposition) people often look for BN elected representatives in Sabah. We feel that it is not the right way of garnering the people’s support,” he told reporters after attending the launch of the implementation of HCFCs (hydrochlorofluorocarbons) Phase-Out Management Plan – Stage 1, here.

Kurup also said that the opposition leaders had also lobbied for lower rung leaders of the BN to join them in the next general election.

“They did not speak to me, but they have spoken to leaders under me. I just told them they are talking to the wrong people. We (PBRS) are on the right track,” he said.

It is said that the opposition pact is redoubling efforts to get more BN leaders to defect after having enticed Beaufort MP Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin and Tuaran MP Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing last month. — Bernama
