KOTA SAMARAHAN: The new UiTM Samarahan 2 campus, currently under construction, is 90 per cent done and is expected to be completed on time.

Costing RM310 million, it has the capacity to accommodate 7,300 students.

This was revealed by UiTM Kota Samarahan rector Professor Datuk Dr Jamil Hamali at the ‘Majlis Berlanggar Meja’ in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebration yesterday.

On a related matter, he pointed out that UiTM was currently building a new campus in Mukah on a piece of land allocated by the state government.

“The campus, expected to be completed by 2015 will be able to accommodate 2,000 students,” he said.

He also said the university would soon introduce two new programmes – Diploma in Herbal Production and Diploma in Halal Management – starting next year.

“It is an initiative by the state government and we are keen to assist especially as it will contribute to the
building of human capital for Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE),” he added.

In Samarahan, he said, students recruited for the first intake would be placed at the current campus before being transferred to the new campus next year.
