KAPIT: Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Billy Abit Joo recently visited Rumah Mawang, Nanga Suau, Baleh River to see for himself the progress of the new 28-door longhouse that was still under construction.

He also wanted to determine the kind of assistance needed to complete the longhouse.

“Under the BN’s touch points’ programme, I’m empowered to lend assistance to the needy such as the people in Rumah Mawang to complete their longhouse. As Hulu Rajang MP, it is my duty to continue serving the people to the best of my capacity until Parliament is dissolved.

“I hope the frequent visits would strengthen BN in the constituency and ensure Hulu Rajang remain a BN stronghold in the coming general election. I urged all present to continue supporting the BN government and BN candidate in Hulu Rajang in the coming election”, he said.

At the function, he handed over a government grant of RM28,000 under his touch points’ programme to the JKKK of Rumah Mawang, Nanga Suau, to assist them in purchasing building materials to complete the longhouse.

Organising chairman Tuai Rumah Mawang Embolwas said he invited Abit to visit the longhouse to see their living condition as they had been struggling to build the new longhouse.

Meanwhile, Pemanca Tony Kulleh, who spoke at the function, said the people of Belaga were still fully behind Abit to be renominated to defend his seat in the coming general election.

He said Abit’s close relationship to the top federal and state leaders as well as his seniority, experience, empathy and natural capability to serve, gives him an added advantage to serve the people more effectively. He believed the people still needed Abit to help the people in Baleh and Belaga.

“I believed the attention given to rural folk in the past five years in agriculture, infrastructure and people development are mainly due to Abit’s efforts in highlighting the plights of the rakyat at State and federal level”, he added.

Cr John Patan, SPDP Baleh chairman Andrew Jonah, longhouse chiefs, former Kapit District councillor Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, PRS Youth Exco vice chief cum PRS Belaga Youth chief Budit Patan and PBB Baleh representative were among those present.
