KUCHING: The Ningkan Clan will soon form an association.

Paul Murphy Ningkan, son of the first chief minister the late Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan, said there are 382 surviving members of the Ningkan clan at present.

The family members from all over the country will converge on Kuching this Saturday (Sept 15) for the clan’s fourth reunion dinner.

“Besides organising dinners, the formation of an association for the Ningkan Clan is also in the pipeline, which will undertake activities and programmes in a more structured manner for all the family members of the clan and for the community at large,” said Paul, who is the reunion organising chairman.

“The objective in holding the reunion is to further strengthen the family and to allow the family members to know each other better, especially the younger generation.”

The dinner to be held at The Banquet will be themed ‘Betemu Begulai Baru’. The biennial event first started in Kuching in 2006, while the last reunion was held in Miri in 2010.
