MIRI: Sarawak is far more progressive than many other states, and the general standard of living of Sarawakians is also better.

However, PBB Youth chief Datuk Fadillah Yusuf, who said this, advised his members not to rest on their laurels but to continue to be proactive and be involved with the society at large to enable the government to tackle their problems more easily.

“Sarawak is far ahead and the present government has brought tremendous development to the people here.

“But I want PBB youths to continue working side by side with the younger generation and the rakyat in general to ensure that the harmonious environment continues to prevail.

“The rakyat wants to be in the mainstream of development, and not left out,” he said at a Hari Raya gathering organised by PBB Youth in collaboration with PBB Youth Zon 9 at Kampung Riam Jaya on Tuesday.

Among those present were Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau (Telan Usang), PBB Youth Exco members Datuk Safri Datuk Abdillah, Hajis Japar Labau, Mohd Tinggal Abdul Hamid, Wan Hamzah, Irwan and Yusop Buji.

On the looming general election, Fadillah said his wing was ready for action, and fully equipped even to counter what propaganda the opposition could stir.

He added that PBB Youth had full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Sarawak Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

“We are united and committed to work together with other BN component parties to ensure a BN victory in the coming polls.”

Meanwhile, Ripin advised PBB Youth members to always be on guard because there were ‘outside forces’ ready to slander and smear the BN at every turn.

“Certain quarters will stir hatred and racial sentiments in order to disunite the people. We must be alert at all times.”

At the gathering, Fadillah, Ripin and PBB exco members gave away ‘duit raya’ to orphans, single mothers and children. They also distribute Armada (a PBB Youth activity) stickers to PBB Zon 9 Youth members.
